According to Mary Tillman what are the reasons the Tillman family didn't sue the U.S. Government? To sue or not to sue, what do you think would be the right decision?

Megan Tillman had a son named Pat. He was originally a football player, playing for the Arizona Cardinals. He had then became a solider and joined the army with his brother Kevin. He was fighting in the war in Afghanistan. He was shot with a bullet. The military told Megan that Pat Tillman was shot by there opponents fire. Years later Megan found out that her son Pat was really shot by American fire or “friendly fire”.
Megan Tillman did not sue the U.S. government because she did not have that much evidence of Pat being killed. The reason for that is the Military threw away all his records. It is like he had never joined the army. If I were in the family’s position I would not sue. The reason I would not sue is that the pain in Megan Tillman is the loss of her son Pat, and if she had all the money in the world, she can never get back what she really wants, Pat.

Mary Tillman son, named Pat, played for the Arizona Cardinals. Her son, Pat, joined the military and was sent to Afghanistan to fight a war. While serving his country, Pat was shot in the line of duty. Or that is how it seemed. Mary, Pat’s mom, was told that her son was killed in the line of duty by the enemy. 4 years after the bad accident, it got worse. The tragedy was already bad, but Mary found out that her son was not killed in the line of duty; he was shot by the ones who he was fighting for. Which was the United States Military. Mary could have sued the United States, but there was one reason why she couldn’t. There was one reason why she could. But Mary believed something else. Even though Pat’s files were thrown out and there was no evidence to even tell that Pat was in the Military. Not even the fact that she could get rich off the money that would be granted to her if she successfully sued the U.S. government. Mary believed that the government could straiten themselves out.

Megan Tillman is the mother of NFL football star-turned-Army Ranger Pat Tillman. Pat and his brother Kevin had joined the army. Megan was told by the military that her son died heroically in an enemy ambush. This was very sad for the Tillman family. Four years later the Tillman family found out that her son was actually killed in Afghanistan by his fellow army ranger com rads.
Megan did not sue the United States government because she hardly have the evidence to prove the death of Pat Tillman. Pat Tillman's remains left behind and his records were all thrown away by the military. If i were in the Tillman family's situation I would sue the United States for not even telling the truth about what had happened to their family member Pat Tillman.

Mary Tillman had two sons named Pat and Kelvin. Pat played in the NFL in the years before 9/11, for the Arizona Cardinals. Soon after, they joined the military and were sent to Afghanistan to fight the war on terrorism. During a vicious battle Pat was wounded by a bullet shot from a gun, from a trigger, from an American soldier. Mary was informed that her son was killed in the line of duty by the enemy. Four years after the death of Pat, it became even more dramatic. The tragedy was already bad, but Mary found out that her son was not killed in the line of duty; he was shot by his fellow comrades. The Pentagon waited 5 weeks to release that Pat was killed in so called “Friendly Fire.” Mary could have sued the United States and gotten the perfect revenge for the tragic death of her son, but there were a few problems. Pat’s files were probably shredded by a shredding machine, in an office, in the Pentagon, by some secretary who didn’t even know what had happened. All that was known was that Pat Tillman may have been a person but now there is no record of his career. His career was “TERMINATED.” I would have tried everything I could have to sue the government (even though they would win, I mean it’s their country right?)for dignity of my son Pat Tillman.

The Tillman family didn’t sue the U.S. government after their son Pat got killed in the army. The Tillman family was originally informed by the army that Pat had been killed by enemy forces. However, the family was later informed that Pat died from American forces. There are many reasons why the Tillman family didn’t sue the U.S. government. First of all, the family didn’t want to put this guilt on the young American soldiers. Also, the Tillmans didn’t want to disrupt young soldiers’ lives. The Tillmans didn’t think this would do much good. The last reason is that they wanted to see if the system (government) would do its job and sort this all out.

I think the decision to not sue the U.S. government is right. As Mary Tillman stated in an interview/ conference, there was a huge cover-up about Pat’s death. It was stated that there might have been tapes showing Pat’s death. It was also stated that some people had been watching the incident on these tapes. However, the tapes “disappeared.” All evidence of the incident was destroyed, including Pat’s uniform. Without evidence, I think it would be hard for the Tillmans to sue the U.S. government and win.

Mary Tillman didn't sue the U.S. government because she wanted to see if the system of checks and balances would actually do its job. Plus, she didn't have any accountability of what had actually happened. The soldiers that had shot and killed Pat in "friendly fire" had all changed their statements afterward. There was supposedly a video that she could have used as evidence, but she doubted she'll ever find it. That is, if there is even a video. If there was a video, it was probably destroyed along with the rest of the evidence that Pat was in the army. Pat's uniform and armor had all been destroyed. In addition, Mary Tillman didn't sue those young soldiers because she knows young people do stupid things. It would be useless to disrupt their lives now. All the money in the world means absolutely nothing to her if her son had to die for it. Plus, the soldiers hadn't even tried to change their statements at first. Revenge wouldn't do much good now anyway. Pat's dead either way.

I agree with Mary Tillman that she didn't sue the soldiers responsible for Pat's death. She should have sued the U.S. government, though. Mary Tillman doesn't want revenge. She wants closure, and better yet she wants her son. Mary Tillman has nothing to gain from ruining the lives of the soldiers responsible for Pat's death. The only reason she had looked further in on Pat's case was because she thought that the government was trying to cover something up. The soldiers that had killed Pat should not be held accountable. Whoever decided to embellish Pat's death should be held accountable.

If I was in Mary Tillman's situation, I would have sued the U.S. government. I think the U.S. government should be sued for trying to cover up Pat's death and for trying to take advantage of Pat. At first, the government had wanted Pat to be a recruiter. They had wanted to use Pat's fame to attract more soldiers. Pat declined, of course. Before he went to battle, he had to fill out some documents just in case something happened to him. He said he wished to be cremated if he died, but when he did actually die the government tried to convince his family that he would have wanted a big military funeral. Luckily, Pat had made a lot of attention and even more soldiers. I think the government should be sued for lying to Pat's family about what had actually happened to him and for trying to take advantage of him, even after Pat had died.

Mary Tillman's son Pat had a bright future ahead of him. He was a football player for the Arizona Cardinals and he was in he middle of a lucrative contract. However, after the 9/11 attacks, he decided to risk it all with his brother Kevin, and serve in the army. The army was always a constant discussion between the two brothers when they were kids. When Pat arrived in Afghanistan with Kevin and were ready to go to war and then... he gets shot!!! The government anounced his death was due to an enemy assault, but what Mary Tillman didn't find out until 5 weeks later, is that friendly fire cost her son his life. What is even worse about this cover-up, is that the Pentagon went on to trash his records, so that there would be no links to him if someone got suspicious. It is a mimic of the Watergate scandal that ruined Richard Nixon. If I were in Mary Tillman's position, I would sue the governmaent for everything they had. I would be furious, outraged, and also disgusted at the government. The members of the Tillman family have contributed to the armed forces one way or another. Her ex-husband and other family members have served in World War 2, the Korean War, and have been a part of the National Guard. If my son were to die in a war not worth fighting, I would have suffered a great deal of pain in my heart. War can plague and damage indivisuals, and their families. The money I would acquire wouldn't bring Pat Tillman back to life, but it would expose the government and the corrupt figures involved in it.

In April 2004, the sons of Mary Tillman, Kevin and Pat Tillman joined the .U.S. army. They were both proud to be able to serve for their country. However, Ms. Tillman wasn’t brought back with good news. She was informed that Pat was killed in Afghanistan by the enemy forces. Five weeks later, she was informed that the bullet found in Pat was not the enemy’s bullets, but an American bullet. Ms. Tillman never pursued charges against the U.S. government. She didn’t have enough evidence or prove. Pat’s file of him being in the army was destroyed. Since there was no prove that Pat was ever in the army Mary Tillman wasn’t able to sue the U.S. government.

I agree with Mary Tillman’s decision. Even though I believe that the government was wrong for trying to cover up the story of Pat’s tragic death, I believe that Mary’s decision wasn’t totally wrong. For example, if Pat’s case was to actually win, the governor might be resigned; this may cause mayhem into the country. Also, if Ms. Tillman was to pursue this case, it would affect many people around us. Even if she was to pursue this case, Pat would never be revived again. I think that if you are going to hurt many people around us, just avenge this once person, is wrong. I believe that Pat was happy that he was able to die in the battlefield. I believe he was satisfied that he was able to serve his country before dying. This is why I believe Mary Tillman’s decision was right.

Megan Tillman had a son named Pat. He played for the NFL team the Arizona Cardinals before being sent to the military. In the military he was sent to Afghanistan to fight war. During won of the fights Pat was shot. The military told Megan Tillman that the opponents shot him. A few years later i was revealed that the shot Pat took was indeed an American. Someone accidentally shot him.
Megan Tillman isn't suing the American Government because there was not a lot of evidence and information about the incident. The army got rid of all of his records as if he never entered the army. If i were Megan I wouldn't sue because there is a little chance that we will win the suet with little evidence and not knowing exactly what happened. Even if she sues and wins she still loses her son. Nothing can bring her son back.

Mary Tillman did not sue the United States Government because she did not have enough evidence to prove that the soldiers had killed her son, Pat. All evidence was destroyed including Pat's uniform, and videos of the event. She also didn't sue the soldiers because she was very generous and kind. She believed that young people made mistakes and they don't think of thte consequences. She felt that the need to sue any people for money was useless at this point. Money in the place of her son didn't have value. She thought that revenge wasn't going to do anything to bring her son back.

Mary Tillman made a wise decision and I agree to it. Mary Tillman did not sue the soldiers because im return, she would get murder on her hands. However, I believe that she should have sued the government. She wanted to investigate more because she though something was missing from the incident. She thought that the government was hiding something facts from her.

Finally, she felt that she would be interfering and disturbing the young soldiers still fighting in Afghanistan.

If I was in Mary Tillman’s situation, I would have done the same thing. I believe she made the right decision by not suing the government because even if she had tried, she probably would not have won. I think that just the mere fact of disclosing the truth to the public must give her certain peace of mind. According to her speech Pat’s death was a huge cover up. She stated that there have been reports of tapes that show how Pat died and people who have watched these tapes but all the evidence including Pat’s uniform was either destroyed or vanished.

She didnt sue because someone shredded all of Pats files and there was no evidence that he actually joined the army. The U.S government did not own up to the fact that her son Pat actually got shot and died by an AMERICAN soldier and they are not going to.

Pat Tillman played football for the Arizona Cardinals. After his football career was over, he joined the army with his brother Kevin. During the war in Afghanistan, Pat got shot and he died. The military told Mary that he got shot by the enemy. Later on, Mary found out that he wasn’t shot by the enemy but he was shot by an American soldier. Mary could’ve sued the United States but she didn’t. She didn’t because there was no evidence of this. All that have remained of Pat has disappeared. So if she didn’t’ have any evidence then the U.S. would’ve won.

Megan Tillman had two children, one of which was an NFL player named Pat. After 9/11, Pat and his brother went to join the military. During his "tour", Megan was told that Pat was killed by enemy forces in battle. It took 4 years for Megan to find out that this was not true, her son was shot and killed by his fellow comrads. Whether by mistaken identity or on purpose, only the workers of the government know. All pf the records and files involving this tragedy were most likely destroyed. Therefore there is no evidence to prove this. If Megan Tillman was to sue the government, it would take months to even be excepted for a case against them and she still might not win. Like Mohamed said, all of the money in the world can't buy the life of her son back.

Pat joined the armed forces with his brother, Kevin Tillman, after the 9/11 catastrophe. Mary Tillman and her family were informed, by the Pentagon, that Pat died accidentally in an enemy ambush. However, the Tillman’s still don’t have the truth on how Pat died. The government lied to this family and hid the fact that Pat died by friendly fire.

According to Mary Tillman, she didn’t sue the government because of a few reasons. One of these reasons is that she to keep the system of checks and balances. Another reason was because she didn’t have enough evidence. First of all, Mary was only told the truth after 4 years. In addition, everything that was in Pat’s possession was completely destroyed. Finally, she didn’t want to bother any of the other soldiers and ask them about more evidence of the events leading to Pat’s death. Mary felt that Pat’s death was serious, but she hoped that the soldiers who were part of Pat’s death realized their mistake and understood how much grief they had caused this family.

I think the right decision would be to not sue the government. Mary is an intelligent person and she made the right decision, with which I completely agree with. First of all, Mary doesn’t have any evidence of her son’s death. She stated that she was satisfied with having the truth of disclosing Pat’s death and that the soldiers understood their mistake. Suing the government, in my opinion, would be useless at this point.
